Dictation lets you use speech-to-text to author content in Microsoft 365 with a microphone and reliable internet connection. It's a quick and easy way to get your thoughts out, create drafts or outlines, and capture notes. 

To use the Dictate function, youmust be signed into Microsoft 365 and have a microphone.

  1. Open a new or existing email or document. 
  2. Click Dictate In Word it's on the Home menu, while in Outlook it's on the Message menu.Office Dictate Button while signed into Microsoft 365 on a mic-enabled device.  
  3. Wait for the Dictate button to turn on and start listening.
  4. Start speaking. The text appear on the screen.
