A registered user pays for an Online Search subscription, which grants access to the Schedule Search and Trial Court Advanced Case Search. Registered users are sometimes called subscribers. 

You do not need to be a registered user to make payments.

Iowa Courts Online does not display court documents. It only displays events.

For free access to public case documents

• Go to the clerk of court offices at the county courthouse where the case was filed. You can view public documents at the public access terminals. No registration is required. 
• Otherwise, ask the clerk of court of the corresponding district court for the documents: Court Directory.

For example, if you log in on a public terminal at the Polk County Courthouse, you can see public documents that were filed in Polk County.
